The S.A.F.E (Strengthening Aboriginal Families Effectively) program was introduced to aid the Aboriginal Families living off-reserve to help strengthen the relationship between parents and children involved in Child and Family.
By providing advocacy for the parents and children while also giving cultural awareness, the goal is to help prevent the number of aboriginal children that are going into care and help to support families and caregivers with high risk children.
The services that will be offered with S.A.F.E will be culturally sensitive programming aimed towards the caregiver and guardians of these high-risk children to educate them on the history of their culture; providing home visits and parenting classes and community workshops. There will be counselling services also offered to the families in need of it.
