Special Youth Annual General Assembly
January 21, 2017
11:00am – 3:00pm
Native Council Portage Office
The Native Council of PEI has recently accepted Brittany Lush’s resignation from her position as the Youth Board Representative. We would like to take this time to offer thanks and acknowledge the hard work and commitment that Brittany has demonstrated in this role. We are very pleased to hear that she will remain involved with our community, as she will continue to serve on the National Steering Committee representing the Native Council with the Congress of Aboriginal People.
As a result of the vacancy on the Native Council’s Board of Directors, we will be hosting a Special Youth AGA in order to hold elections and select a new Youth Board Representative. This will take place on January 21, 2017, at the NCPEI’s Portage office. There will be an agenda prepared and circulated by January 6, 2017, in preparation for the event.
The following criteria must be met in order to be voted in as the Youth Board Representative, as referenced in the Youth Council Terms of Reference:

2.2.2: The elected Youth Board Representative must be a citizen of the Native Council, aged 18-29 and active in the youth council activities/programming with a participation rate of 66%
Section 3 Selection Process
3.3.1: Each candidate requires a nominator and a seconder from the floor – Candidates will then be given 5 minutes for a speech and 10 minutes for questions and answers
3.3.2 Each youth member has one vote that will be cast in a secret ballet
In addition to the criteria mentioned above, the successful candidate will have to produce a satisfactory criminal record check, including the vulnerable sector check, in order to be formally appointed as the Youth Board Representative.
